I tried to live stream to YouTube. Works just fine. The quality of the stream is so much better.
Both the resolution and bitrate you can use. I streamed 1440p 60 FPS with a bitrate of 24000 (Kb/s).
Try that on Twitch.
You first have to activate live streaming on YouTube. Then you need to wait 24 hours before you can start streaming.
It's a bit weird to actually start the stream. You need to set it up on YouTube first before you actually press the Start button in OBS Studio. It's similar to when you going to upload a video, but now it's for a live stream. In OBS you then have to select that specific stream before you actually go live.
I see 5 advantages with YouTube Live at the moment.
- Thumbnails
- Quality is better (resolution and bitrate)
- Transcoding right away. Don't have to be YouTube Partner (quality options for viewers)
- VODs stay on the channel forever (until you delete them yourself)
- After the livestream, you can add comments in the VOD
Well well, I'm going to try YouTube Live a bit and see how I like it. I might do a video about it later (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7NEfX4DspI).
Here are test streams I did: https://www.youtube.com/@UnipixelMedia/streams
